CZ DJ Contest 004

Eligibility

  • The DJ contest is open to DJs interested in performing at The Comfort Zone in Toronto during A.M.Sessions on Friday, February 21, 2025.
  • Participants must be 19+ years old and Ontario residents.
  • The contest is open to both amateur and professional DJs.
  • Previous Comfort Zone DJ contest winners are not eligible to participate.

Genres

  • Participants must submit one mix in one of the following genres: House, Tech House, Progressive, or Techno. Mixes outside of these genres will not be considered.

Originality

  • Whether you choose to use CDJs, laptops, or controllers to perform your mix, it doesn't matter. However, it is important that all mixes submitted for the contest are created exclusively by the DJ entering the contest—no external assistance or pre-recorded mixes allowed..

Submission Deadline

  • All mixes must be submitted by Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Availability

  • Participants must be available to perform on Friday, February 21, 2025, and have no other bookings that weekend. If you are booked elsewhere that weekend, unavailable or have conflicting commitments, you will be disqualified.

Social Media

  • Participants must have at least one social media account, with Instagram being a mandatory requirement.
  • Participants must follow The Comfort Zone on both Facebook and Instagram to be eligible.

DJ Contest Requirements

  • Create one 45-minute mix that showcases the style you intend to play at The Comfort Zone if selected.
  • Title your DJ mix as: Your DJ Name - #czdjcontest004.
  • Upload your mix to your SoundCloud account and email the following details to czdj@comfortzonetoronto.ca:
    • Email subject: Your DJ Name - #czdjcontest004
    • The SoundCloud link to your mix
    • Your city of residence (please be specific)
    • Your social media handles (Facebook and Instagram)
  • Share the SoundCloud link to your mix on both Facebook and Instagram, tagging #czdjcontest004 and The Comfort Zone on both platforms.
  • NEW! Post a video to your social media feed and story (must be both) explaining what playing at The Comfort Zone would mean to you personally. Make sure to tag The Comfort Zone in your posts.
  • Use the provided artwork below for your SoundCloud mix and accompanying social media posts.

Winners

  • Judging Criteria: Entries will be judged based on style, creativity, mixing quality, and social media engagement (number of plays, reposts, shares, and genuine interaction). This will be considered alongside the quality of the posts and their impact on your following.
  • Winner Selection: A total of 4 winners will be selected. Each winner will perform a 2-hour DJ set during the event. Set times will be allocated by The Comfort Zone and are non-negotiable.
  • Compensation: Winners will be compensated for their performances.
  • Event Promotion: Winners are required to bring at least 20 paid attendees on the night of the show. The more people you bring, the greater the likelihood that The Comfort Zone will want to work with you in the future.
  • Winners will be provided with the lineup artwork and are expected to actively promote the event on their social media platforms, including at least five posts leading up to the event. These posts should be spread out over time to maximize reach.
  • Winner Announcement: Winners will be announced on Monday, February 3, 2025, via The Comfort Zone's official social media channels.
  • Guest List: Winners will receive one complimentary guest list spot for the event.

Disclaimer

  • Important Note: Many participants failed to follow the rules in the last contest, making their mixes ineligible. Please ensure you read and understand the requirements thoroughly.
  • Eligibility Affirmation: Winning this contest and performing at the event does not guarantee future opportunities or bookings with The Comfort Zone. By entering, participants affirm that they meet all eligibility criteria and accept the terms and conditions outlined.
  • Fraudulent Activity: Any fraudulent activity, such as purchasing plays, shares, or using unauthorized third-party tools to manipulate metrics, will lead to disqualification. Failure to comply with any contest requirements will also result in disqualification.
  • YouTube Rips: No YouTube or online rips will be accepted. For the best sound quality and professionalism, we strongly recommend using high-quality audio files such as 320 MP3s or WAVs in your mix.
  • Contingency: If a selected winner is unable to perform or doesn't meet the criteria, an alternate will be chosen to play by The Comfort Zone on the event date.
