Catching Up With Mikey Terra
We catch up with Mikey Terra ahead of his extended set this Saturday night.
Sep 23 2021
First of all, how are you and how has your 2021 been going so far?
Crazy! Big changes! Moving to Houston, Texas in the New Year and shall start my weekly residency at Bauhaus, Houston, TX. I am most excited to be part of the Bauhaus team and yes of course, I will be flying back to Toronto to play shows every 2-3 months.
After a long 16 months, the city is finally open again. What have you missed most about DJing?
Watching the dance floor vibe! Spending many hours during the week prepping for gigs, staying awake all night, ducking the “Ball Washers." Great to see things are picking back up again!
How would you describe your sound?
These days I am trying to satisfy everyone, which is impossible to do. Playing House, Deep House, Tech House, Techno and all of the above. Remixing on the fly, making each set, that special. For those that don’t know me, I was a Hip-Hop DJ back in the day.
When and how did you first get involved with The Comfort Zone?
I for sure would like to thank four people who popped my CZ cherry way back when. Chris Larsen, Harmz, Carolina & Fran aka JADE. They took me to the Zone one night after Footwork and the rest is history. I got signed with Team INK, back in 2006 and played in a sound crew call “YM” 4 those who know! BTW, I am Turning 37 in a few days, should anyone want to know.
In your opinion, what is it that makes The Comfort Zone so special?
The connection between the DJ and the dance floor for sure. Can’t forget the Cream Soda drank. When you mix this with a dark room and a loud system, you cannot go wrong!
Toronto is very lucky to have such great talent. Bless Up!
What's something no one knows about you?
I did not make the basketball team unfortunately and I need YouTube to fall asleep at night. I still follow the 2pac and Biggie Case after 25+ years.
What will you do after answering these questions?
Probably go roast one and empty the dishwasher. Hope you all nnjoy the below set that was recorded as my “Last Set Ever” at 680 Spadina Ave. See you this Sunday 09.26.21 for my extended set!
